Blockparty was a wild success!!

We simply could not have asked for a greater first year. With 200+ people attending Notacon, 100+ watching the competition, and over 40 entries across all the divisions, there was plenty to show for all the planning and dreams.

The blockparty 2007 archive is now in place, and will remain static for posterity.

Demoscene institution Northern Dragons made appearances in nearly every category (and won the main demo competition) but were accompanied on all sides by folks from all over North America and the world.

In all, over $3700 in prizes were given away to the winners and Blockparty's inaugural appearance was an unforgettable event, appreciated by all, and introducing dozens of new people to the power and pride of this amazing subculture.

At the party, Jason Scott and RaD Man produced the "Blockparty Pledge": There will be at least five Blockparties, held yearly, from this point on. This means that if you missed out on this one, get cracking on your entries because there'll be another one held next year and the year after that! We want to be a jumping-off point for a new era in demoparties in North America, and a dependable stage for demo coders to show their work.

We're already planning for next year. Be sure to mail us with suggestions, offers and prize sponsorships as we hurl towards the next step in a great new tradition!

Thanks so much!
